GRATITUDE: A Classic pullover with modern lines; my pandemic go-to knit!
Hello Friends!
At the end of each yoga class, my teacher asks us to think of 3 things we are grateful for today. Throughout the pandemic, knitting has always been on my list. So during this stressful time, I have gravitated toward designs that are rhythmic and meditative to knit as well as easy-to-wear.
GRATITUDE is a classic, seed stitch pullover with clean lines, beautiful side vent detail and an I-cord edge worked from the hem-to-cuff. Knit all-in-one piece from the bottom up, GRATITUDE is knit in DK weight yarn on US size 8 or 9 needles. I have knit my GRATITUDEs in one of my favorite brand yarns, Shibui Knits, for an extra luxurious experience.
It should be noted that I needed a different size needle when knitting with the silk/linen yarn, KOAN, than with the wool yarns, NEST and HAVEN, so it is really important to knit a swatch to check your gauge before setting out.
I chose 3 different Shibui yarns for my GRATITUDE pullovers: the first I knit in KOAN held double for a wonderful summer look, but as fall approached, I knit a second one out of NEST for a warmer weather version (shown below).
Of course when Shibui launched their newest yarn, HAVEN, I could not resist, so I went ahead and knit a third GRATITUDE, this time in the stunning Paprika color (shown below). It was a hard choice, as I am also in love with Deep Water)!
While normally I would knit a size M for myself, with GRATITUDE I chose to knit 2 of my sweaters in a size M and then knit the third on in a size L for a bit more ease! I know in the winter I really like the idea of layering and the larger size makes for a bit more roomy look!
Many thanks to Gale Zucker and her team for the fabulous photos!

In other news, I was so honored to have Alma’s Triptych featured on Loop London’s blog last week! Loop is having a giveaway for each of the shawls and you can enter on their blog or on instagram.
This series of mini-shawls were originally designed for my grand niece, Alma. But once I finished a shawl for her, I couldn’t help knit the same shawl for myself. Sometimes I used a single skein of another yarn and simply altered the tones to make the shawls difference and sometimes I added a second skein of yarn to make the shawl bigger! Each time, the final shawl delighted me! I hope you have fun knitting these for someone special — or for yourself!!
Each shawl is written to use one skein of fingering or sport weight yarn plus embellishments. But you can always add a skein for a larger size. Each of the individual pattern of Alma mini-shawls: Alma’s mini-pompoms, Alma’s mini-ribbon or Alma’s mini-lines for $5.50 or buy all 3 Alma’s Triptych for $9.50.
And finally, you can head to VERSACIKNITS masks and pick up a few masks, too! All fabrics and materials are sourced from local retail outlets and all proceeds are donated to charity!
Stay safe, wear a mask!
You can always learn more about VERSACIKNITS on the blog and follow us on facebook and Instagram!
Happy knitting and stay healthy,
