There is no big surprise in the fact that I love Cecelia Campochiaro’s stellar book, Sequence Knitting: Simple Methods for Creating Complex Fabrics. I find 2-color sequence knitting to be so rhythmic that it is completely addictive. And so, it is not a big surprise that I started playing around with adding more color to create a graphic design. I loved the result and, once I started, I just wanted to knit more.
Knit in a simple garter rib, STEPWISE uses a main color (MC) throughout and a contrasting color (CC), which establishes the simple rib pattern. As the wrap grows, the MC continues to be worked throughout, while the the CC is replaced on by vertical stripes in 9 different colors! This new technique is so much fun to work and, as the new colors are added, it is wonderful to watch the graphic blocking develop!
