Hello Friends!
I don’t know about you, but I find myself missing personal interaction and trying to adjust to this new normal!
For me, part of coping has been making and distributing hand-sewn masks to people who need them. Most of my masks to date have been donated to health care workers and front line and essential personal. I have also offered masks to people who don’t have the wherewithal to make masks for themselves, asking in return that they pay the favor forward! It has been quite rewarding!
As time as gone on, so many of you have asked me about buying masks, that I finally decided to open a shop and to donate the profits to charities which are providing support to people affected by Covid-19! Donations in the month of May are going to Vinalhaven Community Outreach and Vinalhaven Meals on Wheels, two groups servicing the small island community where I spend my summers.
VERSACIKNITS masks are hand-sewn face masks made from the highest grade, 100% cotton quilting fabrics with 100% cotton webbing. The good news is that 2 layers of quilting fabric has been found to be among the best of 2 layered cloth masks for preventing the spread of Covid-19.
All fabrics and materials are sourced from local retail outlets within miles of where the masks are made in Princeton New Jersey. Each mask comes with instructions for caring for your mask and information about how to and how not to wear face masks.
At my house, we keep our washed masks in a little basket in our kitchen, so that they are easy to access each time we leave the house.

I put my mask on before I leave the house or my car. I am partial to tying my mask behind my head and neck, but you can also use the ties to secure your mask around your ears. And please make sure that both your nose and chin are covered. Don’t touch the front of your mask (that’s where all the germs from others will be) and leave your mask in place until you get home.
Stay safe, wear a mask!
