So many years ago now, I graduated from Barnard College. Going to an all women’s college and to Barnard, specifically, was one of the best decision I made in my life! The curriculum was formidable, the faculty were demanding, the students were engaging, and the city was mesmerizing. As scared as I was to go to college in the midst of a then dangerous Morningside Heights, the experience not only helped raise my consciousness and my intellect, but I was never again afraid to live in a new place, try a new job or take on a new challenge.
So, I guess it is fitting that I named the sweater that reminds me most of me, Barnard!
And this week I finally finished knitting mine…
A 21st century twist on an empire peplum, Barnard is part fashion and part fun! Its flirty skirt, empire waist and crisp details make it a a stylish and flattering choice for virtually every figure. I particularly love the slightly belled shape of the hem on bodice and on the 3/4 length sleeves and the beautiful finishing details! But what I love most about Barnard is how great it feels to wear.
There is nothing quite as wonderful as working with a great yarn and The Fibre Co.‘s yarns never disappoint! I knit mine in the now discontinued The Fibre Co.’s Organik that I had in my stash (if your LYS is out of stock, you can still get your hands on some directly from the Kelbourne Woolens website), but the sweater is beautifully knit in their Cumbria (as shown in the pattern and was a joy to work with), Canopy Worsted (I knit ribbed and worsted pour moi in this yarn and it is fantastic) or Terra (Bryn Mawr is knit in this luscious yarn).
It contains all the desired information which is mandatory cheapest tadalafil online for a person to know before having the medicine. And Barnard is fun to knit! The Waffle Rib, a cousin of Brioche, is a joy to knit, and the rolled edging gives the project just the right amount of challenge. And the sweater has a gauge which makes it knit up quickly, too.
A versatile addition to your wardrobe, Barnard can be worn equally well with jeans, a dress or a skirt. Hi Lisa,
I am a long time knitter and until my son was born, 20 years ago, I was a knit designer in the sportswear industry in NYC, LA, Toronto, etc. I did other things to support my family while he was growing up, but now I am back! I discovered your work when a friend showed me your Sequences shawl. I am knitting one and it is definitely my most meditative and beautiful project at the moment. I was just reading some of your blogs and noticed you went to Barnard. Me too! No wonder I feel such a connection. I graduated in ’80. Maybe we were there at the same time? Thanks for all you are doing – you inspire me to move forward with my own work. 🙂
Very best regards,
Susannah
